Sarah Jessica Parker on Wednesday tapped into her “Sex And The City” and “And Just Like That...” character Carrie Bradshaw to endorse Democratic nominee Kamala Harris over GOP rival Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
Parker shared on Instagram an image of herself placing a Harris campaign sign in a window and said she was backing the Democratic ticket partly “for a certain childless cat lady I play on TV.”
It was a swipe, of course, at resurfaced comments from Trump’s running mate JD Vance about “childless cat ladies” which formed part of his general commentary that people without children aren’t as invested in the future as those who do have them. His dig was aimed at Democrats, including Harris.
Parker also listed multiple other reasons for her vote: from the “love of my country” and “common sense gun laws” to “women” and “friends and loved ones in the LGBTQ+ community.”
“With an abundance of joy, optimism and pride I am voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz,” concluded the longtime Democratic supporter, who endorsed Joe Biden’s 2020 run against Trump and was on former President Barack Obama’s committee on the arts and humanities.
It’s not a surprise, really, that Parker is backing Harris over Trump, who has previously insulted her looks.
Before the 2016 election, Parker said she was “terrified” of the then-Republican candidate. The following year, she trolled the then-president over the Russia investigation by sharing a meme on Instagram of herself as Bradshaw and the caption, “I couldn’t help but wonder… had the Russian ambassador been meeting with everybody except me?”
Trump appeared in a 1999 episode of “Sex And The City” and was also name-checked in the hit show’s pilot.
