Controversial media personality, Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, has been released on bail from police custody.

Darlington was released after meeting his bail conditions on Tuesday.

This was disclosed by human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju via his X page.

Adeyanju said Darlington was arrested in Lagos last Friday and then transferred to Abuja, where he was detained following a formal complaint filed by Burna Boy.

Burna Boy accused Darlington of defaming and cyberstalking him.

In a viral video, Darlington had asked Burna Boy to explain how he won the Grammy award for his album ‘Twice As Tall’, taunting his affiliation with the embattled US rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ who is facing multiple charges for sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

Following his remark, Darlington was secretly picked up by the police.

However, Adeyanju appreciated those who contributed to the singer’s release and commended the police in the IRT department for their professionalism.

“Special appreciation to #YeleSowore, super reliable senior lawyer #stanalieke, and to all Nigerians for raising their voice for Speed Darlington. Must also appreciate Prof Sanusi and his team at IRT for their professionalism today,” he wrote.
