Tim McGraw made a rare political statement when he wished his wife, Faith Hill, a happy birthday Saturday on Instagram, and it raises the question of if there’s more of that to come.
“Happy birthday to this remarkable woman,” the country singer wrote alongside a photo of Hill. “My beautiful, strong, crazy, badass wife!!!! I love my girl with everything that I am and could ever hope to be! She is our beacon, our rock, our strength. The girls and I are so very blessed! Our girls could not have a better role model in their lives as how to be an incredibly strong woman. And how to believe in themselves and be in charge of their lives (every aspect of their lives)!”
He continued: “Let’s honor the women in our lives with respect and make sure that we fight for their rights right alongside them!”
In the past, McGraw called the Jan. 6, 2021, coup attempt “one of the saddest days in our country’s history” and said it “was tough to watch.” And in a 2017 interview with Billboard, McGraw and Hill, who have been married nearly 30 years, said he supported commonsense gun laws.
“They want to make it about the Second Amendment every time it’s brought up,” McGraw said. “It’s not about the Second Amendment.”
Hill added: “Military weapons should not be in the hands of civilians. It’s everyone’s responsibility, including the government and the National Rifle Association, to tell the truth. We all want a safe country.”
In 2006, McGraw said he would like to run for office as a Democrat, and in 2021, McGraw performed during a TV special for President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
So far, no yard signs in their Nashville neighborhood.
