Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden walked the red carpet Sunday for the Emmy Awards show hosted by ABC, which is run by Disney. (Watch the videos below.)
For the past few weeks, Walden was a point of contention for Republican nominee Donald Trump around the debate. He suggested her friendship with Democratic nominee Kamala Harris tainted the showdown, which aired on ABC. He even alleged that Harris would get the questions in advance and repeated the unfounded claim after he flopped in the prime-time duel.
An interviewer from Variety asked her about “far-right” complaints that the debate was “biased” because of her relationship with the vice president.
“You know I really don’t want to dignify it with much of a response,” Walden said. “I have the highest regard for everyone at ABC News. It’s the most professional organization, the most top-notch journalists, and [the allegation] doesn’t really dignify much of a response.”
She gave an unclear response when asked how the election affects Hollywood.
“Right now I’m more in the mindset of who will win than thinking about what the aftermath will be,” she replied. “I’m very optimistic that we’re all going to find ourselves in a good place. And I know in terms of the industry, that’s where we’re moving. ... Tonight’s a great celebration of so much amazing work that’s been done. ... I just want to be present in the moment.”
