“Simpsons” cast member Hank Azaria had a really animated reaction to Donald Trump’s false and racist claim that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are eating cats and dogs.
Trump and his presidential running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, have continued to amplify the cat-eating lie despite denials from the Springfield Police Department and Republican Gov. Mike DeWine that it ever happened.
Since the small city where the cat-eating is supposedly-but-not-really happening has the same name as the hometown of Homer Simpson, Azaria decided to make the connection stick.
Azaria posted a video Thursday imagining fictional Springfield Police Chief Clancy Wiggum trying to understand a call from a citizen worried about people eating cats in their fair city.
Azaria, playing Chief Wiggum, did a variation of Bob Newhart’s stand-up style where you only hear his responses and have to imagine what the other person is saying:
Azaria as Wiggum: “Springfield Police Chief Clancy Wiggum speaking. How may I help you?
“People are eating dogs? Wait a minute. Hot dogs? Oh, cats. Mr. Katz is eating hot dogs? No? People are eating dogs and cats? People are eating dogs and cats in Springfield?!?
“Are they good?”
You can see and hear Azaria in the video below.
Of course, people had thoughts. Well, actually “Simpsons” GIFs and photos, to be more accurate.
