The jailed Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein, has undergone emergency heart surgery.

He underwent the surgery after he was rushed from prison to a hospital in New York.

Harvey, who is serving a rape sentence at Rikers Island prison, was taken to Bellevue Hospital on Monday, September 9 2024.

The 72-year-old underwent pericardiocentesis surgery, a procedure to remove fluid from the heart and lungs.

The former filmmaker’s lawyer, Craig Rothfeld stated that “he is in pain from the procedure and still dealing with several other serious health problems which need to be addressed.”

Weinstein is serving a 23-year sentence in New York, following a sexual assault conviction in Los Angeles in 2020.

The former filmmaker was accused of sexual misconduct by more than 90 women. He, however, denied any wrongdoing.
