American singer and actress, Selena Gomez has opened up about how she prepared for her role in the new Spanish musical, ‘Emilia Pérez’.
The pop star revealed that she took a break from music and other activities to prepare for her role.
Gomez spoke at a Question-and-Answer session with the rest of the cast of Emilia Perez at the Telluride Film Festival on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
“I stopped working on my music and anything else, and solely focused on this [musical]. Every day, I’d wake up and rehearse the lines over and over again. And I’d call in the middle of the night, my Spanish teacher,” she said.
The 32-year-old singer played the character of Jessi Del Monte in the new musical.
She revealed singing in the new movie was “therapeutic.”
Netflix released the first trailer for the Spanish-language French film on August 26.
The synopsis for the movie, which also stars Zoe Saldaña, describes the film as “an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations.”
