Jimmy Fallon kept the zingers coming on Monday after President Joe Biden took the stage for his keynote address on the first night of the Democratic National Convention.
“Each night of the convention has its own theme, and tonight’s was ‘For the People,’” the “Tonight Show” host said. “Yeah, it’s a big change from a month ago, when the theme was ‘For the last time, please drop out.’”
“When Biden took the stage, the cheers were so loud that even Biden could hear them. Biden gave a speech highlighting his accomplishments. He talked about the economy, health care and how he walked to the podium,” he added.
“That’s right,” he went on. “Biden was the opener. He pretty much went from the giant name at the top of the Coachella poster to the tiny name at the bottom.”
Biden closed out the first night of the convention with an emotional farewell speech where he touted his legacy and passed the torch to Vice President Kamala Harris. He was greeted by several minutes of raucous applause.
