Rapper Cardi B has now outsold her rival, Nicki Minaj in the United States.
Cardi became the highest-certified female rapper in US history after surpassing Minaj in credited units.
Information available on the official site of the Recording Industry of America, RIA, the body responsible for certifying songs based on unit sales in the US, shows that Cardi currently has sold 107 million units while Minaj sold 106 million units.
Minaj has sold more records than Cardi B but most of her hits were features which weren’t credited to her on the RIA site.
Meanwhile, Alicia Keys has earned her first-ever diamond single in the U.S. Her 2009 collaborative hit with JAY-Z, ‘Empire State of Mind’ was recently certified Diamond by RIA for selling 10 million units in the United States.
The song became JAY-Z’s third diamond single, joining ‘N****s In Paris’ with Kanye West and ‘Umbrella’ with Rihanna.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Eminem received the Brit Billion Award for becoming the best-selling American rapper in the United Kingdom with 7 billion UK career streams.
“Four times a BRIT Award winner, @Eminem receives a BRIT Billion Award having achieved 7 billion UK career streams!,” BRIT tweeted while sharing a picture of Eminem holding the award.
