American rapper, Cardi B has called for a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group, Hamas.

DAILY POST reports that thousands have been killed and many displaced since the Israel-Hamas conflict began on October 7.

Cardi B asked her country to intervene, saying she would only endorse a candidate for the upcoming presidential election if a ceasefire was reached in Gaza.

Speaking during a recent social media space with fans, the rapper said: “I want a ceasefire. I want a peaceful treaty between Palestine and Israel.

“I want innocent people to stop dying, that’s all I want. If that can happen, I’ll support anybody.”

Cardi B had told Rolling Stone in May that she wouldn’t be voting in the November poll if the two major candidates remain incumbent President Joe Biden of the Democratic Party, and his predecessor, Donald Trump of the Republican Party.

However, President Joe Biden stepped down as the Democratic Party candidate on Sunday and endorsed his vice, Kamala Harris, as the party’s flagbearer.

Cardi B welcomed the development on social media, saying she anticipated it.
