“Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan celebrated Pride Month on Friday by releasing her first song — and donating the proceeds to LGBTQ+ charities Not a Phase and The Trevor Project.
The actor evidently leaned into the idea after music producer Ellis Miah sampled one of her answers from a “Hits Radio UK” interview last month and turned it into a viral remix on TikTok.
“You know, when the Real Housewives release pop songs just exclusively for gay men? That’s like my dream job,” Coughlan had said in the interview.
“’Cause they don’t even really sing, they just list things. They’re like, ‘Shoes, private yachts, caviar — more shoes,’” she elaborated.
The actor was undoubtedly referencing “Real Housewives of New York City” star Luann de Lesseps, who used her reality television fame to branch out — and released a song titled “Chic, C’est La Vie” in which she lists luxury items like “gems, jets … diamonds” and caviar.
Coughlin, who teamed up with Miah for an official version of his sample-laden TikTok hit, aptly titled it “Shoes…More Shoes.”
Coughlan recently attended the U.K. music festival Mighty Hoopla — and purportedly freestyled the lyrics before greeting fans.
“Like Lennon & McCartney, Dylan and the other great lyricists,” Coughlan joked Friday on Instagram, “I too wrote my first song by improvising some voice notes to @ellismiah in the 30 minutes I had before getting ready to go to Mighty Hoopla.”
Elsewhere in the post, Coughlan thanked “the Queer Icons and Real Housewives” for serving as inspiration.
“I live for you,” she wrote, concluding: “Happy Pride.”
“Shoes…More Shoes” is now streaming everywhere.
