Actor Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas welcomed daughter Malti Marie in 2022. The couple has on many occasions opened up about their daughter and how things changed for them as they took on the role of parents. Now, Priyanka has reflected on how her sleep cycle has changed, given that she is always very vigilant.

On the podcast Read The Room, Priyanka also said that Malti is exactly like her and explained why. She said, “When I look at how comfortable I was with attention, some kids were shy about it, but I had no problem being in front of the camera, I had no problem on stage, I was always the center of attention, my daughter is like that. Malti is exactly like that. No problem with confidence and I think my parents, my family and friends really empowered that about me when I was a teenager.”

When asked what’s the most surprising thing about motherhood, the actor said, “Definitely the lack of control but I cannot sleep the way I used to sleep. I am the lightest sleeper. I can hear everything. I am very vigilant, like a cry or a sound.” She added, “It’s tough. There’s no reason for it. Why do I want to wake up at 7:30 am? Because she is up. I used to sleep at 10 am. Be up all night. Not anymore.”

Nick Jonas, who appeared on the same podcast a few months ago, had also given a similar answer when asked about fatherhood. He had said, “You realize quickly once you have a child that you can’t control everything. I think that was the biggest lesson for me at a stage in my life I didn’t expect to learn. You know, we went through a really tough couple of months at the start of her life and you have that vision [of] how it’s going to go throughout your whole life, and then it’s something completely different.”
